Alpine Exploratory offers an expert service for your West Highland Way Trek. Our self-guided walking holidays give you the planning advice, accommodation, routecards, maps and information needed for an excellent trek.

The core of our service is a friendly, flexible, personal approach to finding the best itinerary for each party. We don't have set schedules or start dates; you're welcome to start with us on any day you choose within our season from May to September each year.

Our standard WHW completes the route to Fort William in 7 stages. Many of our clients prefer shorter or longer treks - for example 6 or 8 stages - and we will advise on suitable staging posts given distances and terrain. Clients also join us for short trips along part of the route, skip first or last nights, or have extra days to climb Ben Nevis.

Once you hit the trail, our detailed routecards show the way. These come from our own research on the route - we walk it and check it to keep up to date with changes. We hope that it's satisfying to complete each stage under your own steam, then roll into a new village with the evening ahead. We're delighted to have got to know some exceptionally friendly and pleasant places to stay; a good mix of accommodation is key to our trips.

Your dogs are welcome! The WHW is a suitable walk for dogs, with certain provisos that we will advise on, and each night your dog stays with you in your dog-friendly room.

Please join us for a superb trek on the West Highland Way. We hope to show you the delights and challenges of this magnificent route. Please contact us to discuss options for your trip.
