Public transport to and from the West Highland Way
MILNGAVIE
At the southern end of the route on the outskirts of Glasgow, it is served by local bus and train services from Glasgow, the former from Buchannan Street Bus Station and the latter from Queen Street Low Level Station, a few minutes walk separating the two locations.
The train service is possibly the more convenient option for access to the West Highland Way, having a more frequent service, twice an hour for most of the day, and trains terminate in Milngavie so you cannot go beyond the required stop. The end of the Way, in the Douglas Street pedestrian shopping precinct, is a few minutes walk from the Train Station.
FORT WILLIAM
At the northern end of the route, it is served by both long distance coach services to and from the north, east and south, and trains, on the West Highland Line, to Glasgow. There is no train service between Fort William and Inverness.
Details of coach services can be found at www.citylink.co.uk/timetables.php and train services at www.scotrail.co.uk/content/timetables.html.
In Fort William the coaches and trains go to and from the northern end of the town centre. In Glasgow the coaches go to and from from Buchannan Street Bus Station and the trains go to and from Queen Street Train Station, a few minutes walk separating the two locations.
